Mesa County holds monthly gift card drawing to promote cleaner rivers and trails
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — County officials from the Stormwater Department are encouraging community members to take pictures of themselves engaging in activities that promote cleaner rivers and trails.
Each photo that is submitted counts as an entry, and organizers will select one winner at the end of each month through October. The winner will receive a $25 gift card that can be used at any downtown location.
Josh Martinez, the county’s stormwater coordinator, suggests many activities that can be photographed, such as picking up after your pets, cleaning up trash from drainageways, using commercial car washes instead of individual ones (because all the water goes down the storm drain untreated) and recycling oil. Organizers will need your contact information to reach out to you if you are selected, but they will not store it.
