Meryl Streep made her Big Little Lies debut as Perry's mom Mary Louise on Sunday night.
• In one notable scene, she screamed at the dinner table.
• Here's how fans reacted to the scream.

After a more-than-two-year wait, Big Little Lies fans got to return to Monterey on Sunday night, when the second season of the hit HBO series premiered. Season two will deal with the so-called "Monterey Five" trying to cover up the real story behind Perry's death, while his mother Mary Louise-played by Meryl Streep, in her BLL debut-hunts for the truth.

Fans couldn't wait to see what the Oscar-Winning Streep would bring to the show, and reader, she delivered. (Entertainment Weekly is already talking about her forthcoming Emmy.) Each of her scenes was incredible, from roasting Madeline Martha Mackenzie (Reese Witherspoon) for her height to lecturing Perry and Celeste's violent twin boys on how to be "fine men." But during Sunday's premiere, there was one Streep scene that really left an impression-yes, we're talking about the scream.

The. Scream.

We're sure it's still haunting your memories, but we'll give you the backstory anyway. At dinner with Celeste and the twins, Mary Louise talks about how angry she is that her friends' mediocre sons are still alive, while her son is dead-so angry, in fact, that she recently screamed about it. And she wants to scream again.

And then she does...and it is legendary. A truly emotional and yet truly horror-movie-terrifying moment:

Lots of fans were straight-up terrified, like we were:

Fans are already predicting that Streep will win awards for her Big Little Lies performance-and they're excited to see the highlight reel.

And of course, some fans found the scream entirely relatable.
