According to Miranda Priestly, aka Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, florals for spring are anything but groundbreaking. Whether that line was playing in the back of Streep’s mind or not, she certainly took notes, calling on a unique detail to spruce up her seasonal ensemble—and no, it doesn’t involve a blossoming print.

Streep attended the Le Deuxième ActeS (The Second Act) screening at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival wearing a floor-grazing gown. The peach dress included a low V-neckline, mid-length sleeves, and an A-line silhouette; however, it was the twist-knot feature that captured my attention.

The genius twist mimicked a classic wrap dress, adding a flattering detail into the mix. The waist-cinching focal point created a soft hour-glass look, which is great on everyone; think of it as your secret weapon to perfect-fitting attire.

Twist knots are super classy, too; I could see Meghan Markle reaching for a similar style because of its polished nature. At the same time, the eye-catching detail adds a bit of spice into an otherwise classic wardrobe. Best of all, most twist-knot gowns are already pre-cinched, taking the complexity out of it.

As refined as this look is, it’s surprisingly comfy due to the ruching around the waistline. The style often includes extra fabric to create that dreamy twist, providing a bit of extra wiggle room—something that’s essential.
