New merch honors La Jolla’s most famous residents

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — La Jolla is known for its boutiques, restaurants and multi-million dollar homes.

Every year thousands of visitors come to see the seaside village’s biggest attraction, nestled in the soft, white sand of the Children’s Pool beach area.

It’s “seal-ebrities.” The famous La Jolla seals are beloved by visitors from coast to coast.

They are now being featured in merchandise at Blue Apparel, so that people can say they saw the “seal-ebrities.”

Proceeds from the merchandise will go toward supporting local businesses, marine protection and rescue agencies, while also helping to preserve the natural wonders of La Jolla.

“We’re not a zoo, we’re not SeaWorld and what they can see is them in their natural habitat,” said La Jolla Village Merchants Association Executive Director, Jodi Rudick.

The money will also go toward educating visitors.

“We want to teach people to be really safe and to give them their space, that’s a big part of the education process,” Rudick continued.

The La Jolla Village Merchants Association says any local retailer who is interested can sell these items at their store.
