What’s on the Menu at the Breaking Bad Restaurant Pop-Up?

There are some shows that figure so largely in our cultural imagination that we just can’t seem to let them go once they’re gone. From the Sex and the City walking tour to a Luke’s Diner–themed Gilmore Girls coffee one-off, IRL revivals of gone-but-not-forgotten shows are practically an industry, and now Breaking Bad has joined the pack with a brand-new restaurant pop-up.

Located in Los Angeles’s West Hollywood neighborhood, the pop-up runs from October 16 until the end of the year, Eater reports. This isn’t L.A.’s first television-dining experience—a Saved by the Bell–themed diner opened in 2018—but its motives go beyond pure nostalgia; the immersive Breaking Bad Experience is meant to promote the show’s new Netflix spinoff film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which comes out on October 11.

While some television shows automatically lend themselves to food reinterpretations—SATC had the Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, after all, and Gilmore Girls’ Luke was famous for his diner fare—it’s a little more difficult to imagine what a Breaking Bad–style feast might consist of (snow cones dyed electric blue to look like meth?). Fortunately, we don’t have to guess—a preview of the menu reveals that “chemically reactive drinks” will feature prominently, as will “Heisenberg” sliders, grilled cheese sandwiches, nachos, and some themed desserts. What, no Funyuns?

The pop-up’s somewhat mysterious website allows you to book tickets online, explaining that a $30 reservation includes an entree and “and your choice of a cocktail, mocktail, or beverage!” Hey, that’s less than half the price of a jar of matcha powder at Erewhon, so you’re getting a genuine L.A. bargain.
