Melissa McCarthy's Ursula Look Dragged by Makeup Artists

Melissa McCarthy's Ursula makeup for The Little Mermaid left some fans confused, to say the least.
After Disney released a behind-the-scenes video of the 52-year-old actress transforming into her character for the upcoming live-action film, fans quickly critiqued her look online.
Most of the criticism has come from drag performers and artists upset by how McCarthy's makeup team decided to paint her, noting that the techniques were not applied correctly as the green eye shadow wasn't blended thoroughly, and her eyebrows appeared to be drawn on unevenly. Knowing that Ursula is famously inspired by the late drag queen Divine, fans had hoped to see that better reflected in her character–especially when it comes to her makeup.

Just a few weeks ago, McCarthy caught up with Deadline and told the outlet that her goal was to make all drag performers proud, including Divine.
"I just hope to do every incredible drag queen proud and Divine proud. Just to give that same [attitude] — to give it your all, to throw it out there, no apologies, do it your way," McCarthy told the outlet on the red carpet. "I wanted to give [Divine] everything she was due."
The Little Mermaid is headed to theaters on May 26,
