On Thursday, Melania Trump made a surprise visit to the Texas border near Mexico. The first lady, whose stylish clothing tends to draw more attention than her actions, seemingly made a conscious decision to wear a subtle outfit for the trip. For a tour of Upbring New Hope, a housing facility for immigrant children aged 12 to 17, as well as other meetings throughout McAllen, she wore white jeans, a khaki shirt, and white Stan Smith sneakers.

However, her casual look still managed to make a major statement. To exit the car and head to the plane that would take her to Texas, FLOTUS wore a green hooded jacket that features graffiti on the back that reads “I really don’t care, do u?”

While the jacket is currently unavailable, the military-style coat, which was sold at Zara two years ago, originally retailed for $39.

Social media is in disbelief.

According to the first lady’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, there’s no “hidden message” behind the jacket. She added, “After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn’t going to choose to focus on her wardrobe.”

Grisham later took to Twitter to reiterate her message and emphasized her point with the hashtags #SheCares and #ItsJustAJacket.

Despite the social media backlash, Trump continued to rock the coat as she exited the plane back at Andrews Air Force in Maryland.
