Melania Trump and Queen Letizia of Spain Meet Up—And Prove They're Birds of a Fashion Feather
Melania Trump met with King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain earlier today at the White House—the last stop on the royals' six-day tour of the United States. The monarchs toured San Antonio and New Orleans as part of a celebration of the cities' 300 years, as both have Spanish roots. Today, Trump and Letizia showcased two different takes on ladylike day dressing, with a twist that nodded to Spanish-American relations in another way: Letizia's Michael Kors dress was a version of one that the First Lady already owns.
Whether or not it was a coincidence is unknown, but Queen Letizia’s pink Michael Kors sheath was first sported (in powder blue) by Trump a year ago when she greeted Panama’s President and First Lady. Whereas Trump opted to forgo the waist-defining belt back then, Her Majesty punctuated her brightly hued, body-skimming dress with a metallic cincher for contrast. A color-coordinated clutch and suede stilettos lent a regal polish to the look. Trump kept things simple from top-to-toe in her modified version of Valentino's ombré-effect dress. She let the intricate floral embroidery do the talking, simply adding a white crocodile belt and matching moss-green Manolo Blahniks.
