Yesterday, First Lady Melania Trump visited a child immigrant detention facility in McAllen, Texas, and she said the kids being detained there were "a direct result of adult actions."

“I was very impressed with the center and the hardworking staff and leadership there – and thank them for all of their hard work. The children were eager to learn and were kind and in good spirits,” Melania said in a statement when she got back to Washington, D.C.

“Spending time with them reinforces the fact that these kids are in this situation as a direct result of adult actions. It is my hope that Members of Congress will finally reach across the aisle and work together to solve this problem with common sense immigration reform that secures our borders and keeps families together.”

But she didn't go on to explain which adults she was referring to, whether it be the children's parents or the U.S. government, which would echo what her husband Donald has been saying.

Since April, 2,000 children have been separated from their parents at the Mexican border because of a "zero tolerance policy" the Trump administration decided to strictly enforce. The practice of separating families has caused outrage across the country and the world.

The FLOTUS's visit yesterday was unplanned, and she caused her own controversywhen she got on her plane at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland wearing a jacket that said "I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?"

The White House gave mixed messages in regards to what the jacket meant. Melania's communications director Stephanie Grisham said it was meaningless, while Donald said it was a message to the media.

"'I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?' written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!" he wrote in a tweet.
