Melania Trump Awkwardly Tries to Avoid Holding Donald Trump's Hand Once Again

First Lady Melania Trump and President Donald Trump had a bit of an awkward encounter on Tuesday while welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, to the White House today for the Trump administration's first state visit.

While posing for photos, the President attempted to hold his wife's hand, and she was not having it. In footage captured by MSNBC, you can see Trump subtly trying to catch Melania's hand. He first taps his hand against hers, but she doesn't play along. Then, he extends his pinky finger, wrapping it around one of her fingers but still she refuses his advances. Finally, he grabs her hand outright and she yields, placing her hand in his grip for a few moments.

All of this happens without Melania's expression changing. She remained completely stoic throughout the awkward moment, acting as if nothing odd was happening.

This isn't the first time the First Lady has avoided holding her husband's hand. Last May she was caught swatting her husband's hand away during a visit to Tel Aviv, Israel. It happened again in February while the couple departed for the White House for a trip to Ohio.
