This year's White House Christmas decorations will be extremely well-planned. Yesterday, in the middle of Robert Mueller's testimony, First Lady Melania Trump shared on Twitter she's already working on the 2019 decor.

"#Christmas planning has begun in the East Wing at the @WhiteHouse. I'm looking forward to sharing our final vision for this unique tradition in the coming months," the First Lady tweeted, sharing four different photos of the process.

She also shared the same message and images on Instagram.

Based on the flower the First Lady can be seen holding in one of the pictures, it looks like we can expect a copper or gold color palette this holiday season for the Presidential residence, though fabric swatches in deep green, crimson, and multiple shades of blue can also be seen on the table.

For the past two years of the Trump administration, Melania has opted for a bold aesthetic with her holiday decorations.

For example, in 2018, striking crimson topiary trees lined the east colonnade as gingerbread replicas of the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument, and the White House were on display.

The modern-day tradition of decorating the White House in celebration of the Christmas holiday dates back to the late 1800s. For most of the 19th century, presidents decorated the residence with simple greenery, but in 1889, President Benjamin Harrison introduced the first Christmas tree at the White House, and in 1894, President Cleveland added lights to the display.
