Meghan Trainor Shares the Adorable Way She Convinced Her Son Riley To Go on Tour With Her & It’s a Toddler’s Dream

Meghan Trainor is bringing two very special guests on tour with her: her sons Riley, 3, and Barry, 8 months! The “Been Like This” singer just revealed that the whole family (including husband Daryl Sabara) are going with her on The Timeless Tour this fall — and she shared the sweet way she convinced Riley to go along with it.
Touring Mama
While promoting her upcoming Timeless album and accompanying tour, Trainor stopped by The TODAY Show to talk about mom life. “How’s motherhood?” the host asked her.

“It’s the greatest in the whole wide world,” the “Mother” singer responded. “I miss them so much,” she added. “I’m only gone for a few days, but it feels like months.”
“Well, you’ve got two boys. How are you going to do it?” he asked. “It’s been seven years since you’ve toured. How are you preparing for this tour with the kids?”
It’s simple: Trainor hyped it up to her 3-year-old.
“Luckily, my son Riley loves trucks and buses. And I told him, like, ‘What if we lived on a bus?’ And he’s like, ‘That sounds like the best thing ever.’ He’s like, ‘We’re going on a bus?!’” Amazing. When you put it like that, who wouldn’t want to live on a bus? This is the cutest thing ever.
The host clarified during the interview if she was taking the whole family. “Yeah, we’re all going,” Trainor confirmed. The family of four will be together as Trainor tours 25 cities in September and October!
Car Love
The “Made You Look” star has talked about Riley’s love of vehicles before. In an interview with PEOPLE in January, Trainor shared her son’s unusual request for his third birthday cake.
“I do know that for a cake, he really wants it to be a car, a cake car,” Trainor told the outlet. “And it has to be specific. It has to be our white car that we have. So I am literally hiring this amazing cake creator to make our Rivian car into a cake.”
“I was like, ‘What about Lightning McQueen car?’ And he was like, ‘No, white car,’” she added. Such a cutie!
Riley Preparing for Tour
For now, Riley is preparing to go on tour by learning his mama’s songs. Last week, she shared the cutest video of Riley helping his mama sing “Been Like This.” On Monday, Trainor posted a video of playing the full song for her baby boy, and his reaction was everything.
“POV: playing my kid my new single,” she wrote on text over the video. Riley — who is wearing a shirt with cars on it, BTW! — sits in his mama’s lap while he listens to the song. The little redheaded boy has the biggest grin on his face as he hears the music. Oh, he is going to have the most fun on tour, and we cannot wait!
