Meghan McCain is speaking out about a ‘particularly sh****’ headline on Elle magazine’s August 2019 cover and calling the publication out for not doing a better job of “lifting other women up.”

The View co-host took to her Twitter on Sunday to make mention of the way that her exclusive interview was editorialized after noticing that the headline featured on the cover wasn’t so flattering.

“I somehow missed ‘Meghan McCain is having a bad week’ was the headline @ELLEmagazine used on their cover?” the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain tweeted. “Wow...just given the past year (and months) I’ve had this seems particularly sh****.”

She went on to suggest that the insensitive headline is likely why “people don’t talk to journalists and never tell them anything real.” However, people were quick to point out that McCain actually said those words herself. Some even called her out for playing the victim.

Still, the 34-year-old channeled her disappointment to share a message with her hundreds of thousands of followers about grief and her decision to be so open throughout her grieving process.

“I made a conscious choice to share my grief journey publicly so others would feel less alone,” she wrote, “and would do it all over again.”

Ultimately, she was upset that it was a women’s magazine in particular that decided to cash in on her vulnerability and seemingly tear her down.

McCain retweeted some people who supported her message.

Still, some argued that McCain might not be in the best position to slam the publication.

Elle has not publicly acknowledged McCain’s take on the headline. However, the television personality had already addressed some issues she had with the article after it first came out in its entirety on July 25. She even made mention in the article about Republicans being portrayed as “evil” by the media and called out the magazine for “editorializing.”
