Meghan Markle's "Idol" Secretly Visited Her and Archie at Home
Dr. Jane Goodall privately visited Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and their son, Archie, at their home at Frogmore Cottage in June.
The Duchess of Sussex told Goodall, "You've been my idol since I was a child," according to the legendary anthropologist.
Prince Harry had an engagement with Goodall yesterday, where they discussed conservation, sustainability, and decreasing the use of single-use plastics.
Royal baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor had a special secret visitor last month that left his mother, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, starstruck.
Dr. Jane Goodall stopped by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's home at Frogmore Cottage, when Archie was just about a month old, BAZAAR.com reported yesterday. The famous anthropologist spilled details on the visit during an appearance with Prince Harry and young leaders from around the world at Windsor Castle this week.
Goodall recalled how excited Duchess Meghan was for their encounter: "She told me, 'I've hero-worshipped you all my life. You've been my idol since I was a child." Goodall also got to cuddle Archie, whom she described as "very cute, very gentle."
The legendary primatologist tied together Harry's passion for environmental issues with fatherhood as well. They discussed Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, which encourages young people to get involved with environment initiatives.
"I told him, 'Of course you're interested in Roots & Shoots, especially now you have a baby,'" Goodall recalled telling Harry. "And he said, 'Yes, of course.' When you bring a child into the world today you have to worry about the future. If we don't make change we don't have a future, it's as simple as that."
Goodall and the Duke of Sussex continued their conversation about conservation and sustainability during their engagement yesterday. Harry called for an end to wasteful, single-use plastics; congratulated his guests on their eco-friendly efforts; and reenacted a chimp greeting with Goodall.
The duchess wasn't in attendance because she's still on maternity leave, but she probably had some FOMO.
