Meghan Markle's Gucci Clutch Featured This Sweet Detail, and It Could Be a Callout to Her Pre-Royal Days

Unless you've been living under Pride Rock, you know that Meghan Markle and Beyoncé hugged it out at The Lion King U.K. premiere in London last night (and swapped parenting tips as they gushed over their love for each other... Yes, it was epic).

For the monumental occasion (at least, it felt historic to us...), Markle wore a black Jason Wu midi dress featuring sheer sleeves and neckline, a black satin Gucci clutch with a butterfly clasp and a sparkly pair of Aquazzura slingbacks.

The Gucci "Broadway" clutch was a royal rewear that Markle first carried to a memorial event at the New Zealand House in London earlier this year.

But we couldn't help but wonder: Did the butterfly clasp on her Gucci "Broadway" clutch ($2,390) hold a deeper meaning?

For one, the butterfly "metamorphosis" feels very Meghan-esque, since Markle went from a private citizen, albeit a successful actress on USA's Suits, to marrying an actual prince and becoming a royal duchess. Talk about a #TransformationTuesday...

There's also the significance of the butterfly for Princess Diana, since one of the late Princess of Wales's favorite pair of earrings (which Markle wore in Sydney during her and Harry's royal tour of Oceania) was a pair of gold butterfly studs.

Whatever the reasoning, you can bet we're watching veryyyy closely for more butterfly accessories from the Duchess of Sussex in the coming months.
