Meghan Markle’s Gorgeous Birthday Cake Had a Special Meaning

Meghan Markle just celebrated her 38th birthday this month. We're sure Prince Harry and baby Archie made the day special for the Duchess of Sussex, since the celebration reportedly included a treat from one of the subjects in the issue of British Vogue she edited: Luminary Bakery. Markle mentioned the cake shop, which gives jobs and training to women who are experiencing poverty or domestic violence, in the magazine—so it's especially meaningful that the bakery created a cake for Markle's birthday.

Hello! reports that Markle chose to have a quieter birthday get-together at Frogmore Cottage with husband Prince Harry and her new baby, which of course included one of Luminary Bakery's creations. While we don't know what her cake looked like, we're sure it was a great match for the duchess's celebration based on the bakery's gorgeous Instagram:

Last week Luminary Bakery posted a photo of the note Markle sent the business after she included it in British Vogue. In it Markle thanks the business for its work and explains why it was important to highlight Luminary Bakery. (She also demonstrated her calligraphy skills in the process, natch.)

"When I knew I would be secretly guest editing the September issue of British Vogue, including Luminary Bakery was a non-negotiable," Markle writes in the note. "The work you do, what you represent to the community, the spirit of the women there—you all embody what it means to be 'forces for change'. Thank you for being a part of this special project.”

The bakery also published a note on Instagram thanking Vogue and letting their new followers know more about what they do: "Luminary is a social enterprise working to empower the UK's most disadvantaged women. We offer skills training in the art of baking, paid employment in our business and a supportive community to help women thrive," the post said. It makes sense that they'd want to thank her in, literally, such a sweet way.
