Meghan Markle's estranged father Thomas Markle has taken things to a new level of ?!?!?! by announcing that he plans to petition the court for grandparent visitation rights. Speaking to Fox News (of course), Thomas said “I will be petitioning the California courts for the rights to see my grandchildren in the very near future."

Thomas hasn't met Meghan and Harry's two children, Archie and Lilibet, and has been estranged from Meghan since the royal wedding.

According to celebrity divorce attorney Mark Gross, who spoke to Us Weekly, Thomas doesn't have much of a chance at winning visitation rights because he doesn't have a previous close bond with the kids. “With no relationship established between Mr. Markle and his grandchildren, there is no path that any court would give him for visitation," Gross said.

Meanwhile, Thomas also felt the need to give his two cents on Meghan and Harry's ongoing tension with the royals:

"We shouldn’t be punishing [Lili] for Meghan and Harry’s bad behavior. Archie and Lili are small children. They’re not politics. They’re not pawns. They’re not part of the game. And they’re also royal and entitled to the same rights as any other royal."

FYI, Meghan spoke about her relationship with Thomas Markle during her Oprah interview, saying “Everyone has accountability. They hunted my mom down. You never heard her say a word. She’s remained in silent dignity for four years watching me go through this.”
