Meghan Markle Wore Two Very Different Statement Hats Before Noon

It’s been a busy time to be a member of the British royal family. Kate Middleton gave birth to her and Prince William’s third child on Monday, but the slate of royal engagements stops for no one. Prince William, Prince Harry, and bride-to-be Meghan Markle all stepped out on Wednesday to honor fallen veterans from Australia and New Zealand on Anzac Day.

Meghan and Harry kicked off the melancholy day’s activities by attending an early morning service at Hyde Park Corner in London.

Markle, clad in a long gray Smythe trench coat (shop a similar look here), wide-brim hat, and black Sarah Flint pumps ($395; sarahflint.com), appeared distraught throughout the service, as did her fiancé, who paid tribute to veterans by wearing his medals on his navy suit jacket.

Both Harry and Meghan followed tradition and decorated their coats with a single red poppy pin (a symbol of post-war remembrance).

Later in the day, Markle and her royal beau stepped out once more, this time alongside newly-minted father of three Prince William.

The two princes matched in navy suits and navy and maroon-striped ties, while Meghan maneuvered a costume change, opting for a sophisticated calf-length skirt, a matching cropped black jacket, and a small black beret bearing an elegant dragonfly embellishment.
