The Duchess of Sussex cheered on her friend Serena Williams alongside none other than the 'Vogue' editor-in-chief herself.
Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
Most of the fashion world might be busy turning its attention to New York Fashion Week, but not too far away, the U.S. Open is also still going strong. And some fashion folks are pretty focused on sports right now, too. On Saturday, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, made an appearance at Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to cheer on her friend Serena Williams in her final match against Bianca Andreescu. And if the support of a royal wasn't enough, Williams also drew another noteworthy fan: none other than Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who took a break from sitting front row at the shows to sit courtside instead.
For the sporty occasion, the Duchess went for a practical, casual look: a belted denim long-sleeve dress — which you can currently score for 40% off, it just so happens — from J.Crew. Because it's suddenly feeling a bit like fall in New York, she layered the dress beneath a long, drape-front gray sweater, also by J.Crew (and also currently on sale at Nordstrom, FYI!). The Duchess accessorized with one of her go-to pairs of sunglasses — an aviator style by Victoria Beckham — turquoise Jennifer Meyer stud earrings and, of course, a super-shiny, perfectly wavy hairstyle.
With Wintour seated directly behind the Duchess, the two socialized while cheering on Williams, both no doubt thrilled to get a fun, recreational break from their busy schedules.
