From Town & Country

After a nice holiday vacation, Meghan Markle is back to work in 2019. Last week, she announced four new patronages, and paid a surprise visit to Smart Works, a London-based organization, which offers interview training, access to clothing, and support for unemployed women.

Today, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in bright red coat for her first joint appearance with Prince Harry of the year. She paired the bold outerwear, which is by one of her favorite brands, Sentaler, with matching pumps from Stuart Weitzman, and an equally vibrant dress by Babaton for Aritzia.

Meghan and Prince Harry are in Birkenhead this morning (an England town not far from Liverpool) to stop by a few local organizations. Those to be honored with a royal visit include Tomorrow's Women, a charity that helps adult women improve their lives, whether with a fitness class or mental health counseling.

The Duke and Duchess will also stop by The Hive, a community center for those aged 8-19. The purpose-built facility opened just two years ago, and offers the younger set access to everything from indoor rock climbing to musical equipment.

Tomorrow's Women seems very aligned with Meghan Markle's interests. In just the short time that she's been an official royal family member, the Duchess has made a point of advocating for women's rights. During her and Harry's royal tour through Oceania, she gave two notable speeches: one championing the importance of women's higher education, and another on women's suffrage.

It looks like it's shaping up to be the Duchess's signature issue. In addition to her newly announced association with Smart Works, we know that she's been speaking with experts and even met with Michelle Obama to speak about "about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities."
