Meghan Markle Has Been Wearing Her Wedding Gift from Prince Charles for Months

Message to all in-laws out there: Consider this a friendly nudge to step it up with the gift-giving.

You may have noticed how Meghan Markle has been wearing a sparkly diamond tennis bracelet over the past few months. Neither the designer or the provenance of it had been identified until the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's most recent royal tour: Upon landing in Fiji for the second leg of the trip, The Sun's royal correspondent revealed on Twitter that Markle's everyday accessory had been a present from her father-in-law, Prince Charles.

In Suva, Markle wore it first with a chic white dress by Zimmermann (and matching fascinator by Stephen Jones), as well as with another shiny gift from the in-laws: a pair of diamond-and-pearl earrings given to her by Queen Elizabeth several months ago. Later, in the evening, she kept the bracelet on when she changed into a caped gown by Safiyaa for a state dinner.

According to reports, Prince Charles gave Markle the diamond bracelet as a wedding gift. (And, at the risk of sounding overly dramatic, the man's got impeccable taste in jewelry.) We don't have much information on who made the bracelet or the story behind it—is it a low-key royal heirloom?—but it does have a decisively modern edge to it.

As Cosmopolitan notes, the Duchess of Sussex has actually been hiding the bracelet in plain sight over the past few months. She was first photographed wearing it when she arrived at her hotel the evening before her wedding, back in May.

A few weeks later, it was seen once again on Markle's wrist, rather appropriately, at Prince Charles's 70th birthday celebration.

Markle and her father-in-law have a sweet relationship: Prince Charles walked her down the aisle on her wedding day, and reportedly has an awesome nickname for her. You can bet he already has the perfect baby gift picked out for her and Prince Harry.
