Meghan Markle Totally Just Made A 'Good Place' Joke About Meeting Prince Harry

From Women's Health

  • Meghan Markle joked to actress Jameela Jamil, who stars in The Good Place, about how she met Prince Harry.

  • On the show, Jamil's character, Tahani Al-Jamil, says that she introduced Meghan to the prince.

  • Meghan told Jamil that she's "grateful" that Tahani "introduced her" to Harry.

Fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are well aware that the couple first met when they were introduced by a friend and set up on a blind date. Last year, it was reported that the mystery matchmaker was publicist Violet von Westenholz, but viewers of The Good Place know a different (fictional) story.

On the hit NBC comedy, actress Jameela Jamil portrays socialite, philanthropist, and celebrity name-dropper Tahani Al-Jamil, who claims that she was the one to introduce Meghan Markle to Prince Harry. When Jamil was handpicked by the duchess as one of the stars for her guest-edited British Vogue cover, Jamil worried that she'd offended the royal over the matchmaking quip.

"She said she loved The Good Place," the actress told Grazia of her conversation with Meghan. "I then felt immediately embarrassed that she had seen me joke about her on the show."

But there was no reason to fret. "She said she's grateful to Tahani for introducing her to Harry," Jamil said. "I just replied, 'You're welcome.'" Crisis averted.

The actress added that she and the duchess "chatted very openly" while discussing her guest editorship for the September issue. They talked about gender equality, and Meghan voiced her praise for Jamil's I Weigh campaign. Jamil described her as "warm, kind, and actually very LOLs," as proven by her Good Place gag.
