Yesterday, Meghan Markle announced that she was launching a capsule collection of workwear to support Smart Works. The charity is one of Meghan's patronages, and helps underprivileged women secure employment.
If royal watchers weren't already overexcited to get their hands on Meghan-approved workwear, the Duchess heightened the anticipation today with a detailed Instagram post. The five-photo slideshow features previously-unseen images of Meghan, with four from her visit to Smart Works this past winter, and one more recent snap.
The caption explained that during Meghan's visits to the charity, "she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colors which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily 'suit' the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview."
The message continued, "As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel 💯 as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market."
To bring her vision to life, the Duchess is partnering with her fashion designer friend, Misha Nonoo, department stores Marks & Spencer and John Lewis, and the clothing brand Jigsaw. According to the royal's Instagram, fans should "stay tuned for more exciting updates this autumn" about the project.
