From Town & Country

Meghan Markle is well-aware of the visibility she can afford brands, just by wearing them once. Often, she'll use this sartorial power to highlight ethical brands such as Outland denim, or eco-friendly lines like Rothy's.

She's also been known to wear clothing made by her friends—many of whom she was close with long before she was a royal. Here, four brands by Meghan's friends, all of which she's made a point of repping.

Meghan Markle's longtime friend—and rumored matchmaker—Misha Nonoo is a fashion designer, and the Duchess has been known to wear her garments. Memorably, during her first-ever official appearance with Prince Harry back in 2017, Meghan donned Nonoo's classic white "Husband Shirt."

Recently, Meghan revealed that she was partnering with Nonoo (among other brands) to launch a capsule collection of workwear, which will benefit her patronage Smart Works.

Roland Mouret's friendship with Meghan also dates back to her pre-royal days, when he dressed the then-actress for red carpets. They reported met in a hotel elevator in Istanbul, when Mouret struck up a conversation. "This man in a bathrobe said, 'I'd love to dress you,'" Meghan said, per Elle UK. "I thought 'whaaat?' Then he told me who he was and we've been friends ever since."

These days, Meghan still rocks Mouret's looks, including the glittering gown she wore to the premiere of a Cirque du Soleil show, and the sleek gray dress she donned during last summer's royal visit to Dublin.

Serena Williams

Living legend Serena Williams also counts the Duchess among her close friends. Williams reportedly helped organized much of Meghan's New York City baby shower—and per Vanity Fair, even footed the bill for the venue, the Mark's $75,000-a-night penthouse. More recently, Meghan made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon this summer to watch Williams's match.

During her and Prince Harry's royal tour of Oceania, Meghan also took a moment to support Williams's fashion line, by wearing one of her blazers.

Meghan and Claire Waight Keller, the current head designer at Givenchy, are relatively new friends—but they've quickly become close. "It evolved from a designer and client relationship very quickly into a friendship," Waight Keller told Grazia, describing the process of designing the Duchess's wedding gown. "I suppose we have a sort of unbreakable bond in that sense, when you’ve experienced something very few people have together, so it goes deep."

Since saying "I do" in Waight Keller's design, Meghan's made a point of wearing Givenchy pieces again and again. And last winter, the Duchess even made a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards to present the designer with an award.
