Meghan Markle's intimate baby shower on Wednesday at the Mark Hotel in NYC gave guests the opportunity to stop and smell the roses. And ranunculus. The fête, reportedly hosted by her pals Amal Clooney and Serena Williams, started with a flower arranging class, Gayle King, O's very own editor-at-large shared on CBS This Morning. And while her confidantes were invited to take the vases home, most of the carefully gathered stems were donated to a very special place: Ronald McDonald House.

By the duchesses decree, the vivid purple plooms, and pretty pink peonies (Markle's favorite!) were given to Repeat Roses, a charitable company that recycles flowers to "increase social impact and reduce waste."

They selected Ronald McDonald House as the recipient of Markle's flowers, in hopes that they could bring some cheer to the pediatric cancer patients staying there during their treatments.

"I thought that was a very sweet thing," Gayle remarked about Markle's gesture. "I mean it just speaks to who she is. She's very kind. She's very generous, and a really, really sweet person."

Besides flower arranging, dessert was of course served at the shower-by Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. These adorable cookies were also on hand.

One tradition Markle didn't uphold? Opening gifts-which, besides playing "dirty diapers," or decorating onesies, is a fairly standard activity. And no, it wasn't because feigning delight in a crowd full of cooing women is awkward.

Markle wanted to wait until she got home to Prince Harry so that they could experience it together. Nice, right? And, sure, her excuse may have been a tactful way of avoiding that ritual, but it's valid, and we're stealing it.

Right after the shower, Markle slipped into some Lululemon pants with a "mummy" nameplate necklace, valued at $850, and headed back to London, presumably to review her haul with Harry.

While we may never know how many rattles she recieved, we are assured by Gayle that "a good time was had by all."
