Meghan Markle dazzles on the cover of 'Variety'.

Meghan Markle looks radiant on the current issue of Variety, whose cover depicts the Duchess of Sussex gazing dreamily into the distance.

In an interview with the magazine, Meghan opened up about life after Queen Elizabeth II’s death, saying she was “really grateful” to be able to support her husband Prince Harry following the loss of his grandmother.

Describing the late monarch as a “shining example” of female leadership, Meghan went on, "I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her.

“I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family,” she added.

The weeks following the queen’s death have been “complicated” Meghan said, and as the royal family is still in mourning she worried that any comments she made to Variety might be received as a “distraction” from this period.

However, she was happy to talk about family life in Montecito, California, where she and Harry are raising their two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.

At heart, according to the magazine, Meghan is the quintessential "nerdy American mom." By her own admission she "loves to watch Jeopardy! and do Wordle in bed with a glass of wine."

And now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to be the stars of a major Netflix docuseries, which will likely focus on the couple’s work with their nonprofit Archewell.

An offshoot of Archewell is Meghan’s podcast Archetypes, which seeks to interrogate and dismantle harmful labels assigned to women. Admitting to having been “nervous” interviewing Paris Hilton for the latest episode, Meghan added that she herself didn’t “grow up pretty.”

She went on, “I grew up as the smart one. So much of what I ended up thinking about, when I thought about Paris, was envy and judgment—two of the most dangerous things.”

But after hearing about how Paris used her persona as a defense against the trauma she experienced while growing up, Meghan said that she apologized to her for having judged her.

Meghan went on to explain that “that episode is not framed as a defense of Paris; it’s the humanization of her.

“And that’s true for everybody. I don’t care what situation you’re in — if a 16-year-old boy or girl, or a woman in the workplace, feels objectified or dehumanized because their character is misrepresented, I hope everyone listening with an open mind could come away thinking, ‘Could I just actually consider for a second that there’s a person there?’”

She shares an office with Harry, which the couple retreats to after having breakfast with their kids, and they spend a lot of time commuting. This means that they get to frequently stop by Harry’s favorite restaurant, In-N-Out.

“There’s one at the halfway point between L.A. and our neck of the woods. It’s really fun to go through the drive-thru and surprise them. They know our order.”

The stunning photoshoot that accompanies the interview was taken at San Ysidro Ranch. Our favorite dress from the series of snaps is the pink and white one whose princessy romance is perfectly offset by the backdrop of a massive khaki tarp!
