Meghan Markle’s issues with the royal family – in particular, sister-in-law Kate Middleton – appear to have started long before she even met Prince Harry, if one of her recently resurfaced blog posts on her now shut down lifestyle site The Tig is anything to go by! The aforementioned post also almost definitely proves that the 41-year-old former Suits actress wasn’t telling the whole truth when she claimed in a 2017 post-engagement interview with Prince Harry that she “didn’t know much” about the British royal family, as her post proved quite the opposite. Awkward!

Meghan Markle Shades 'Princess Kate' On 'The Tig'

According to a recently resurfaced article on The Tig – named after her favorite Italian wine – which has been dug up by various outlets including Page Six and the Daily Mail, the Duchess of Sussex goes into quite a lot of detail about "Princess Kate." In particular, being tired of the "endless conversation" around the royal wedding of "Princess Kate" and Prince William.

The article was allegedly written in July 2014, two years before she met Prince Harry, now 38, and Meghan explains in it how she isn’t like those young girls who "dream of being princesses," and is instead much more inspired by "She-Ra, Princess of Power."

"For those of you unfamiliar with the '80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength," Meghan explained in her post. "We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here. Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate."

The rest of Meghan's article, for what it's worth, goes on to gush about Princess Alia Al-Senussi, who she was introduced to by her good friend Misan Harriman (who she recently spoke about during a TED Talk) and how it was a "pinch myself" moment.

Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton's Strained Relationship

And it doesn’t seem like Kate Middleton, 41, has the best opinion of her sister-in-law, either! Despite things looking good for the once fab four – the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – we have since learnt that Kate and Meghan didn’t see eye to eye long before the Sussexes stepped down as senior royals in January 2020.

In his bombshell memoir Spare which was released in January this year, Prince Harry alleged that Kate "grimaced" when Meghan asked to borrow some of her lip gloss at their Royal Foundation Forum appearance back in 2018. "Kate, taken aback, went into her handbag and reluctantly pulled out a small tube," Harry wrote. "Meg squeezed some onto her finger and applied it to her lips. Kate grimaced." He then went on to say that all four of them "should’ve been able to laugh about" the moment, but the press "sensed" it was "something bigger." He also speculated that Kate must have been "on edge" as she was now "going to be compared to, and forced to compete with, Meg."

And then of course there was the now infamous argument about Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress. According to Spare, the Princess of Wales texted Meghan to explain that there was a "problem" with daughter Princess Charlotte’s dress, and then, according to Prince Harry, also asked for all of the bridesmaid dresses to be remade just days before the royal wedding. Kate allegedly told Meghan that Charlotte’s dress was "too big, long and baggy" adding that her daughter "burst into tears when she tried it on."

After some back and forth, the Princess of Wales eventually agreed to visit Meghan's tailor with Charlotte, although Prince Harry wrote that he later found his wife "on the floor" in tears following their argument. Kate apologized and brought over flowers and a card the next day, according to Prince Harry, which goes along with what Meghan told Oprah in their bombshell interview in March 2021. "I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details because she apologized, and I’ve forgiven her," Meghan told Oprah.
