Meghan Markle is hoping to "break a tradition or two" during her royal wedding to Prince Harry, which is scheduled for May 19.

According to E! News, Markle is hoping that her mother, Doria Ragland, will walk her down the aisle on her wedding day instead of her reclusive father Thomas Markle.

Tradition calls for a bride's father to walk her down the aisle, presuming that he's still alive. For example, Kate Middleton's father walked her down the aisle when she married Prince William back in 2011.

It's unclear exactly what Meghan's relationship is with her father, but it's clear that she shares a close bond with her yoga teacher mother. They're frequently photographed together and, most recently, they attended the Invictus Games closing ceremony in September together, which they watched alongside Harry.

Kensington Palace hasn't yet commented on the reports that Ragland could walk her daughter down the aisle in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Though her parents are divorced, they did release a joint statement through the palace back in November when their daughter's engagement was announced to the public.

"We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry," they said in a statement. "Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together."
