Meghan Markle Reportedly Renewed a Trademark for Her Lifestyle Blog, "The Tig"

Meghan Markle’s beloved lifestyle blog, “The Tig,” which covered all things style, food, and travel, may be set for a comeback.

According to The Sun, Meghan’s business manager Andrew Meyer recently filed documents in the United States for Meghan to keep ownership of the website until 2021. Meghan’s official spokesperson also commented on the filing, stating, “The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her.”

Though this could be just a precautionary measure to make sure no one tries to take over the brand name without Meghan’s permission, a similar trademarking of the name “Tigtots,” which people think is a parents- and children-focused vertical, sparked interest that the site could be making its way back online. Meghan shut down the website in April 2017, just a few months before she reportedly met Prince Harry and began the whirlwind of royal life.

Apparently, an anonymous source told The Sun that, knowing the Duchess of Sussex, a Tig rebrand wouldn’t be completely off the table: “Given [Meghan’s] desire to be a different type of royal — pushing her own causes using digital and social media — it’s not out of the question she’d think The Tig could play an important role.”

Meghan has been interested in publishing lately, editing the September issue of British Vogue and using her platform to promote the voices of outstanding women. Continuing to do so online, where an audience can be endless, seems like a logical step next step for Meghan, and we're definitely here for it.
