Last week, it was revealed that the Duchess of Sussex has won a digital media award for her Spotify podcast Archetypes. And today, she has also been named as an honoree in the 2023 Women of Vision Awards, which celebrates “feminist changemakers” and “powerhouse grassroots leaders.”

Meghan will receive her award during a ceremony on May 16 from Gloria Steinem, who co-founded the Ms. Foundation which runs the awards. Other honorees for 2023 include the co-founder of Black Voters Matter, LaTosha Brown, as well as Wanda Irving, who co-founded a non-profit to alleviate Black maternal health disparities after her daughter Dr Shalon Irving died from preventable pregnancy complications in 2017. Also being celebrated for their work are: Kimberly Inez McGuire, executive director of Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity; abortion rights activist Olivia Julianna; and 16-year-old author and LGBTQ+ inclusion activist Rebekah Bruesehoff.

“We are thrilled to announce this year’s honorees for the Women of Vision Awards and to celebrate 50 years of progress and power,” said Teresa C. Younger, President and CEO of the Ms. Foundation in a statement. She described the winners as “incredible leaders" and said, "We are grateful to be able to shine a light on their many accomplishments and tireless work on behalf of gender and racial equity across the country and the world.” This year’s awards will be held at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City on May 16 and mark the 50th anniversary of the Ms. Foundation. This year the title is Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power.

In a profile accompanying the announcement of Meghan as a winner, she is described as a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model.” “Her lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business ventures,” the profile reads. Past honorees at the Women of Vision Awards have included Hillary Clinton, Amanda Gorman and Ava Duvernay. The Ms. Foundation says that for the past fifty years it has invested more than $90 million to build grassroots movements fighting for gender equity for women, particularly women of color around the country.
