Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Wedding: New Details Revealed by Kensington Palace
Royal fanatics, get your fanfare ready! Buckingham Palace released new details about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s much-anticipated wedding Monday, including the exact time and route that the televised nuptials will take place.
The couple are confirmed to be getting married at noon GMT on May 19th, or 7 a.m. ET and 4 a.m. PST, with the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend David Conner and the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby officiating.
They will exchange vows in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle before embarking on a victory lap of sorts to greet the gathered royal fans, riding in an open carriage down High Street through the town of Windsor before returning toward the castle via the Long Walk.
“They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day,” a statement from Kensington Palace reads.
The couple will then attend a reception at St. George’s Hall with their family and friends. In the evening, the newlyweds will partake in a private evening reception for a more intimate group of guests, hosted by Prince Charles.
Another buzzy topic that has been circulating the Internet as Markle and Harry prepare for their wedding is who exactly will be on the guest list. Though they have both largely remained mum about who made the cut (St. George’s Chapel only seats about 800 guests), Harry has previously noted that he and his wife-to-be will be mindful of those deliberations.
“We haven’t put invites or the guest list together yet, so who knows whether he’s going to be invited or not,” he said in a BBC radio interview last December, when asked whether former president Barack Obama would get an invite. “I wouldn’t want to ruin that surprise.”
