The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating Prince Charles's birthday today with a gift to royal watchers everywhere: a new photo of their son Archie. This morning on Instagram, Meghan and Harry shared a never-before-seen picture of the Prince of Wales and his youngest grandchild from baby Archie's christening earlier this year.

"Happy birthday to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales - Sir, Pa, Grandpa! 🎂" reads the caption of the photo, in which Prince Harry holds his baby as Prince Charles looks on.

The photo comes just one day after Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan would be spending Archie's first Christmas with Meghan's mother Doria, instead of with the royal family at Sandringham.

"The Duke and Duchess are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month," a spokesperson for the couple said. "Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, their Royal Highnesses will spend the holidays this year, as a new family, with the Duchess' mother Doria Ragland."

The spokesperson continued, "This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the royal family, and has the support of Her Majesty the Queen."

Here, the spokesperson is referring to the multiple Christmases that the Cambridges have spent with the Middletons, something royal reporter Victoria Murphy pointed out on Twitter.

"William and Kate spent Christmas with Kate’s parents in Bucklebury in 2012 and 2016," she wrote. "Harry and Meghan have been at Sandringham for the last two years."

Harry and Meghan weren't the only ones who wished Prince Charles a happy birthday. Will and Kate posted a trio of photos with a heartfelt caption on the Kensington Palace account:

The official royal family Instagram account, which represents the Queen and Prince Philip, but also Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Princess Anne, among others, shared a lovely series of portraits:

Charles's brother, the Duke of York, noted the occasion as well:

And finally, Clarence House, the social media channel that represents the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, shared a photo of Charles's birthday celebrations in Mumbai today. He turns 71 while on trip to India, his 10th official visit to the country.
