  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry apparently decline an offer to attend the Academy Awards on Sunday.

  • They were reportedly invited to present the award for Best Picture.

Even though Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped down as senior royals, they're still getting invitations to high-profile events.

According to the British tabloid Hello! (so, like, take this with a grain of salt), Oscar organizers were hoping that the Duke and Duchess would attend the award show tomorrow. It's being reported that Harry and Meghan were "approached to present the award for Best Picture at this Sunday’s 92nd Academy Awards," but a source shares that "they were honored by the request, but declined the invitation."

Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan made a secret trip to Miami to speak at a private event for JP Morgan, so it's not like they aren't willing to travel to make an appearance. However, this news comes after reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton had a not-so-great time at the BAFTAs, aka Britain's version of the Oscars, last weekend.

While Will and Kate were at the award show, not only did Brad Pitt poke fun at Harry stepping down from the royal family and leaving England, but Rebel Wilson also made a joke about Prince Andrew. Apparently, the broadcast of the show was edited to make it seem like Will and Kate weren't upset about the jokes, when in fact they were *not* thrilled.

And I gotta be honest—if I was Harry or Meghan, I wouldn't want to be subjected to a room of people making jokes at my or my family's expense either, so maybe that's why they didn't want to go!
