Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reportedly Part of Discussions Over Using the Word "Royal"

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly taking part in "ongoing discussions" about whether or not they'll use "royal" as part of their titles going forward.

Since the pair have stepped back from their senior roles as part of the royal family, sources have allegedly indicated that their usage of the word "royal" itself is now up for discussion.

"As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping back as senior members of the royal family and will work towards financial independence, use of the word ‘royal' in this context needed to be reviewed. Discussions are still ongoing," a royal source indicated to People. The talks apparently revolve around using the word when it comes to promoting their new nonprofit organization.

"As part of the process to transition the Duke and Duchess of Sussex into their new chapter, planning has been well underway around the launch of their new nonprofit organization. Details will be shared in due course," the source continued. The result will likely be that Meghan and Prince Harry will likely no longer go forward using the word "royal."

The Duke and Duchess previously made headlines when they shared their joint decision to step down as members of the royal family in January, making an official announcement to the Sussex Royal Instagram account at the time.

"We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” the statement continued. “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment."

The pair have yet to make any kind of official statement regarding this newest development in the process of their transition.
