Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Made a Surprise Trip to Stanford University

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry appear to be settling into life in North America quite nicely, enjoying a much more relaxed existence. Though they haven't just been cooking dinners and doing yoga. They recently jetted to Miami where Harry gave a speech at a private event—and they grabbed dinner with Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez.

This week they reportedly took a surprise trip to Stanford University in northern California. According to People, the couple met with professors about the new charitable foundation they are planning to launch later this year. Today.com reports they held a several-hours-long brainstorming session after being greeted by university president Marc Tessier-Lavigne. And yes, they flew commercial, so there will be no private jet controversy surrounding this trip.

We don’t have a lot of details about what this charitable entity will look like yet, but the Sussexes seem to be doing a lot of research on that front.

They are also making other moves to solidify the changes in their lives since their decision to step down as senior working members of the royal family. Hello! reports that the Sussexes’ office staff at Buckingham Palace has been let go—which makes sense considering they will no longer be carrying out official royal duties. The staff was apparently notified in January and some of them may be offered other roles within the royal family.

Markle also shared a never-before-seen video of her time guest-editing the September 2019 issue of British Vogue. The magazine sold out in 10 days, making it British Vogue’s fastest-selling issue ever and the biggest seller of the decade. The duchess appears alongside editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who praises her as a someone with an “editor’s eye.” They also don silly hats to celebrate, and they call the cover stars of the issue like Yara Shahidi and Laverne Cox.

Perhaps there’s another big editorial moment in Meghan Markle’s future? We’ll all just have to wait and see.
