  • Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton will remain seated during Queen Elizabeth’s Commonwealth Day procession.

  • This means they won’t be next to the queen when she arrives at Westminster Abbey.

Sure, Queen Elizabeth may still have ~feelings~ about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping back from their senior royal duties, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to treat them differently than Prince William and Kate Middleton today.

The Telegraph is reporting that Meghan, Harry, Kate, and William will not be a part of the queen’s Commonwealth Day procession. Basically, that means that instead of standing up as the queen enters Westminster Abbey, they will all be sitting down when she arrives. Not exactly sure if there’s any drama behind this, but it’s the famously dramatic royal fam, so take everything with a grain of salt. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In case you didn’t know, Commonwealth Day is used to recognize and celebrate the work the 53 member states of the British Commonwealth do to promote global issues. Now that our history lesson is over, all you *really* need to know about Commonwealth Day is that Meghan, Harry, Kate, and William have always played a part in the actual ceremony itself—standing up to signal their respect for Queen Elizabeth as she enters the procession in Westminster Abbey. I wonder what inspired this change!

Today’s service officially marks the end of an era for Meghan and Harry, as it is their last royal engagement before they formally step back from their senior royal duties. Meghan and Harry will transition out of their roles starting March 31 and will return to Canada to be with their son, Archie Harrison.
