Nobody but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry know what's in store for the Sussexes now that there are official timelines, complicated rules and regulations, and a 12-month review of everything on the horizon, but experts say that if the two wanted to get into the cutthroat world of influencer marketing, they'd have no issue the financial independence that they've mentioned. While it's tough to imagine Harry and Meghan selling diet tea and bragging about promo codes, it could bring in a lot of money — and it's even more than anything Kate Middleton and Prince William could earn.
According to the influencer marketing platform Inzpire.me and The Sun, Meghan and Harry's Instagram account, @SussexRoyal, with its 11.2million followers, could rake in as much as £85,271.19 (that's approximately $109,808) for each sponsored post. Inzpire landed on the astronomical number using data pulled from the account's following and its pattern of explosive growth. The company's COO, Marie Mostad, says that interest in the Sussexes and their Instagram account could have to do with everyone's curiosity around the couple's next steps.
Using the same metrics, Inzpire estimates that Kate and William could earn £40,744.97, about $52,695.
If social media influencer isn't the right thing to have on a royal résumé, The Sun notes that there are plenty of other ways the couple could earn big bucks. Sports agent Darren Prince told TMZ that the Sussexes could easily net up to £7.74 million (about $10 million) for a book deal. GDA Speakers, the Professional Keynote Speakers Bureau, adds that Meghan and Harry could net £775,000, which is approximately $1 million, for a single speaking engagement.
