Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Close Their Buckingham Palace Office

  • Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are closing their Buckingham Palace office.

  • Contrary to reports, Meghan and Harry didn't fire anyone.

  • As they are no longer senior royals the Sussexes won't receive money from the Sovereign Grant, which previously funded palace staff members.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving on, having announced their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family.

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finish up their official royal duties, it's been reported that the couple's office at Buckingham Palace has been shut down.

A palace source revealed, "Given their decision to step back, an office at Buckingham Palace is no longer needed. While the details are still being finalized and efforts are being made to redeploy people within the Royal household, unfortunately there will be some redundancies."

As Meghan and Harry won't be acting in an official capacity as senior royals, they will no longer receive money from the Sovereign Grant. As such, they won't have the funding to pay for the Buckingham Palace staff they once had, or a need to continue running their London office.

Since announcing their decision to step back, Meghan and Harry have been spending the majority of their time in Canada, along with their son, Archie. People previously reported that the decision proved to be a positive move for the Duchess of Sussex, and a source revealed, "It was just this tremendous shift when Meghan returned to Canada [after their announcement]... You could tell that she felt so much less stressed."
