Royal experts also weigh in on whether the Sussexes should celebrate King Charles III at his ceremony.

We finally know the answer to one of the biggest questions surrounding King Charles III's coronation: Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attend?

The Royal Family ended all speculation on April 12 when they confirmed that Prince Harry will, as we suspected, attend his father's coronation.

"Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet," they said in the statement.

Will Prince Harry attend King Charles' coronation?

After the couple's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, the relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family has been strained to say the least.

The couple, who stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020, now live in California with their son, Archie Harrison, and daughter, Lilibet Diana.

Archie's fourth birthday coincides with the coronation of his paternal grandfather, King Charles III—which meant Meghan and Harry had a good excuse if they had decided to skip the event all together.

The sixth in line to the throne, who likely doesn't want to completely sever his relationship with his family, will make the trip across the pond for this important moment in his father's life.

The British monarch will be crowned at London's Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023, and we now know that Prince Harry will be there.

Is Prince Harry invited to King Charles' coronation?

The couple confirmed that they had invited to attend the coronation.

“I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” the spokesperson said told multiple outlets. “An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

Following the release of the first three episodes of Netflix's Harry & Meghan, The Mail on Sunday reported that David Mellor, a former cabinet member, said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should not attend Charles' coronation.

Should Prince Harry attend King Charles' coronation?

"They shouldn’t come to the Coronation. They categorically shouldn’t come," Mellor told The Mail on Sunday. "They make money out of selling their family down the river."

Meanwhile, Iain Duncan Smith, a member of parliament, said, "If they dislike the Royal Family so much why would they attend the coronation?"

Queen Consort Camilla will be crowned alongside her husband during the coronation ceremony in 2023. Buckingham Palace previously announced that Charles' coronation "will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry."

Following Charles' ascension to the throne in September of 2022, Harry said in a statement, shared on his and Meghan's Archewell website, "We now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III.”

The day after Queen Elizabeth's passing, Charles mentioned his youngest son Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan in his first speech as sovereign.

The King expressed in his remarks his "love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas.”

Where will Prince Harry stay during his trip for King Charles' coronation?

That's an interesting question! Harry and Meghan were recently evicted from Frogmore Cottage, their marital home while they were working senior royals. Many speculate that the cottage will be given to Charles' disgraced brother, Prince Andrew.

Now that we know Harry is attending, it will be interesting to see where he stays. He could likely choose among the royal family's many homes.
