Meghan Markle Pays Tribute to Volunteers on Grenfell Tower Fire Anniversary
Meghan Markle has shown her support for the Hubb Community Kitchen on the third anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire.
Hubb Community Kitchen was created by survivors of the tragedy to provide food to those in need.
Meghan helped to create a charity cookbook with Grenfell survivors.
On the third anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, Meghan Markle continues to show her support for members of the Hubb Community Kitchen.
Based in Al-Manaar, the Muslim Cultural Heritage Center in London, Hubb Community Kitchen was started by survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. The tragedy killed 72 people and devastated the local community, which is why a group of women dedicated themselves to supporting their neighbors. Since then, the Hubb has provided fresh food to those who need it, and created a cookbook in collaboration with the duchess which has raised money for charity.
According to the Evening Standard, on Grenfell's third anniversary, Meghan called volunteers at the Hubb Community Kitchen an "example of love in action." In the audio message recorded for members of the Hubb, Meghan said, "I think back to when I met all of you and how you had all come together in the wake of what you experienced in your community."
"And now what you have done is such an inspiration, you continue to give back, you continue to to put love in action. And that’s really what Hubb is all about," she continued.
The Duchess of Sussex told volunteers, "I’m so proud of you, so is Harry, and we are sending so much love to you from across the pond and thinking of you today, as I’m sure it’s a difficult day, but also one where you can look at how much you’ve accomplished in the past three years, and how you continue to give back and be an example for all of those around you."
