Meghan Markle is empowering women one shoulder bag at a time.

Know for both her charity work and her sophisticated 9-to-5 style, the Duchess of Sussex has partnered with fine leather goods label Cuyana and United Kingdom-based charity Smart Works to launch a women’s empowerment initiative.

With the royal as their patron, Cuyana will be donating 500 of their Classic Structured Totes to Smart Works, whose mission is to help women earn the skills and confidence to land the jobs they want.

Among its many services, the charity provides dressing and coaching aid for its clients, so they can represent the best versions of themselves in interviews. Once the women are employed, the organization also gifts them a capsule wardrobe that lasts until their first paycheck—which is where the partnership with Cuyana comes into play.

Meghan has been patron of Smart Works since 2019. Her involvement in the campaign comes ahead of Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States in which organizations find ways to give back to their communities.

"Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the magic of Smart Works – womens’ confidence and lives transformed," the duchess said. "Smart Works invests in women so they know they can thrive in any workplace, and Cuyana is a company that is by women and for women, so this feels like the perfect fit. Similar to the Smart Set collection we created many years ago for Smart Works, this collaboration will support women in the U.K. as they mobilize back into the workforce. I am proud to bring these two together to further our shared mission of uplifting and empowering women all around the globe."
