Something blue, something significant, and something incredibly sentimental. For Meghan Markle, who puts thought around practically everything she chooses to wear, one of the biggest ways she honored the late Princess Diana on Saturday, May 19, was with her choice of jewelry at her evening reception with Prince Harry.

The former actress, now known formally as the Duchess of Sussex, pulled an outfit swap that had the masses talking on Saturday night as she and Prince Harry drove off to the Frogmore House from their reception site at Windsor Castle.

Markle stepped out in a sleeveless, high-neck, sophisticated piece by Stella McCartney, and opted for a new piece of bling on her hand—an emerald-cut ring by Aquamarine that once was worn by the late Princess Diana.

The late mother of the groom once wore the jewel to a gala in 1996 and, again, in 1997 to an auction at Christie’s—which at the time was selling her clothing for a charity fundraiser. The proceeds went to the Aid Crisis Trust and The Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Fund.

That wasn’t the only element she included as a Something Blue in her wedding. Kensington Palace released a photo of the adorable couple walking towards their car with a sliver of the bride’s shoe peeking out.

“The Bride is wearing shoes from Aquazurra made in silky satin, with nude mesh, with soles painted in baby blue,” the palace concluded.
