Meghan Markle has made a surprise appearance on stage tonight at the British Fashion Awards to honor Clare Waight Keller, Givenchy's designer and the woman behind Meghan's royal wedding dress and countless other outfits for Meghan's first big events as a royal. Keller won the award for British Womenswear Designer of the Year and thanked the Duchess of Sussex on stage for working with her. Meghan wore an asymmetrical black gown for the occasion.

This was fully intended to be a surprise for Keller. “The Duchess was invited to present this award by the British Fashion Council and thought it would be a lovely surprise for Clare Waight Keller,” a royal source told ELLE.com.

On stage, Keller had glowing words for Meghan. "This woman is so amazing," Keller said. "I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is really the most unbelievable honor. And I can't thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment. Thank you." The two left the stage together, Meghan's arm around Keller.

This is Meghan's first event this week and comes after she had several private engagements last week. Meghan attended a meeting with university leaders, a holiday party for the Royal Foundation, and a charity carol service then.
