Meghan Markle Made a Surprise Visit to King’s College London

She was there to discuss the global role of universities.

Meghan Markle is certainly not afraid to makes her voice heard on the issues she cares about, whether it's declaring her feminist politics in her royal bio or speaking to university students about the importance of affordable education. Now, the Duchess of Sussex is once again taking on the topic of higher education — this time by surprising King's College London students and faculty on December 5.

As part of an Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) event, Meghan met with a group of professors and student leaders to examine how universities can impact matters like "human trafficking and modern slavery, gender equality and inclusion, peace and reconciliation, and climate change and resilience."

Following the event, the ACU took to Twitter to thank the Duchess for being a part of the conversation ."Today we brought together university leaders, academics & #students to discuss how we can build a better world through #highered. We were honoured to be joined by HRH The Duchess of Sussex. Thanks to @KingsCollegeLon for hosting!," the post read.

The surprise discussion came two days after Meghan reportedly met Michelle Obama on the former First Lady’s book tour in London. (Becoming, which debuted on November 13, 2018, has rapidly climbed the best-seller charts.) During their meeting, the pair were said to have talked about ways to continue empowering girls and women around the world.
