  • A source shared how the royal family/Kensington Palace reacted to Meghan’s NYC baby shower.

  • There wasn’t as much drama over it as you might have thought!

Much like how the Jordyn Woods/Tristan Thompson cheating scandal drama just keeps dragging on, so does the backlash from Meghan Markle’s opulent American baby shower.

In case you’re just joining us here on the internet, Meg’s baby shower took place in NYC last month and it was swanky as hell. There were celebs (oh hi, Amal Clooney and Serena Williams), tons of gifts, and a reported $200,000 tab.

And while we’d all prefer to let Meghan bask in the happiness of expecting her first child, one of Queen Elizabeth’s former press spokesmen recently spoke out about the event, saying, “Baby showers, it’s very much an American thing....We don’t do it here in the UK. It was a bit over the top in terms of expense and the way she got there.” Which, rude!

But while it might seem that Meghan would’ve gotten into some hot water with Queen Elizabeth over her New York party, apparently it was all good. A source tells Us Weekly that Meghan didn’t get “a scolding” about the party but rather was informed that it’s not really how the royals do things. The source shared, “She was made aware that Kensington Palace and the royal family, that’s not the way they do it with a big, flashy baby shower like the one she had in NYC.”

Meghan is even reportedly planning a second, smaller shower in England, which will be held at Buckingham Palace. Her mom, Doria, is apparently flying in for the party, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Queen Elizabeth also attends and someone Instagrams it, because I need photos!
