Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle descended upon New York City this week in a frenzied visit that culminated with an exclusive baby shower thrown by her inner circle. A range of guests, including Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Abigail Spencer and Gayle King, were photographed walking into the Mark Hotel on Wednesday, February 20, all carrying a range of gifts in all sizes, shapes and forms.

It was reported that the partygoers filled a baby crib with the presents, but alas, nobody will know the contents of what exactly was gifted to Prince Harry and Markle. On Thursday, King briefly shared a few details about the ultra private party and why unwrapping was not on the schedule.

“She didn’t open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together,” King shared on CBS This Morning the following day. The talk show host also preceded the inside scoop by explaining how the expectant mom is “a very private person.”

“I think she should decide what wants to say about this, but I hope she won’t mind me sharing this because I’ve never seen anything like this at a baby shower,” King explained. “They did flower decorations. They had flower arranging. They brought in someone to explain how to arrange flowers. We each all made an individual vase.”

Indeed, florist Lewis Miller—also the new creative director of UrbanStems—helped lead the session. The duchess, charitably minded, then tapped a celeb-beloved resource to donate the arrangements. “Meghan at the very end got in touch with an organization I’ve never heard of—Repeat Roses—and all of those were donated to different charities,” King said. “I thought that was a very sweet thing.”

“It just speaks to who she is: She’s very kind, she’s very generous, and a really, really sweet person,” King concluded. “I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her. Serena [Williams] and her best friend who’s been her best friend since she was 17, Genevieve [Hillis], and her friend Jessica Mulroney. Those were the three women who put it all together. It was a very, very small, private affair and just a very special time for her.”
