Chrissy Teigen has revealed Meghan Markle contacted her after she suffered a miscarriage last year.

The cookbook author and former model lost her third child, a son called Jack, at 20 weeks last year.

Among women who know they are pregnant, around 1 in 8 pregnancies will end in miscarriage – when the pregnancy ends before 24 weeks, according to the NHS.

Speaking on the Watch What Happens Live! after show, Teigen answered a fan’s question about whether the pair had been able to “personally connect” now Meghan is back in California.

Teigen explained that Meghan had contacted her following the loss of her son.

She said: “Yeah, she’s been so kind to me ever since we connected. She had written to me about baby Jack and loss.”

“She is really wonderful and so kind and just as kind as everyone says she is.”

Last year, Meghan wrote in The New York Times about a miscarriage she and Prince Harry had suffered in July 2020.

Teigen shared with host Andy Cohen how odd it is to see people say disparaging things about her friend who is “so kind”.

She continued: “That’s why you look at everything and you’re like, ‘My God, what is absolutely wrong with people that they have to make this person out to be so malicious or so crazy?’ when it’s just as simple as them being as kind as everybody says they are.

“She’s a really wonderful person.”

When asked if she had spoken to Meghan after the “big Oprah interview”, Teigen revealed she had.

She described it as “eye-opening”, and said: “She’s been very open about what she’s been open with and I think, honestly, her truth has been her truth since the very beginning.”

During her pregnancy, Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, had been very candid about the complications she had been experiencing, sharing much of their journey on Teigen’s Instagram account.

She shared the news of the family’s loss in an Instagram post, writing: “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.”
