Despite technically still being on maternity leave following the birth of her first child, Archie Harrison, the Duchess of Sussex just arrived at Trooping the Colour, the Queen's annual birthday parade. She looks lovely in a navy dress by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy, which she paired with a matching hat by Noel Stewart.

Our first look at Meghan comes as she's arriving in a carriage alongside her husband Prince Harry, who is in uniform. Later today, they'll both take their place up on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the other members of the royal family for the traditional flyover (and photo op), and we could get a better look at her ensemble.

Last year's Trooping, which took place just weeks after the royal wedding, marked Meghan's debut on said balcony, but her ensemble that day drew an undeserved criticism.

Meghan chose a pale pink off-the shoulder look by Carolina Herrera for the Queen's birthday parade in 2018, an outfit which some incorrectly called a breech of protocol. For those who need a refresher, "When it comes to the royal world, protocol is a code of conduct. It’s etiquette; it’s custom; it has nothing to do with clothes," royals commentator and expert Victoria Arbiter previously told Town & Country, shortly after Trooping the Colour last year.

While there was nothing at all wrong with Meghan's look last year, for today's ceremony, she chose a more covered-up silhouette.

While Meghan is still on maternity leave, and is expected to take approximately three months off from her public duties, this likely isn't the last time we'll see the Duchess of Sussex this summer. Baby Archie's christening could take place at some point over the next few months, though details about that event have yet to be shared publicly. She could also turn up unexpectedly at another event or two.
