Meghan Markle Chose a Bold Green Look for the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey

From Town & Country

The annual Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey is one of the most important occasions on the royal calendar—and one of the rare times when most of the senior royals appear together. This year's service also marks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's last time attending as working royals, as their new arrangement takes effect next month.

The Duchess of Sussex chose to wear an all green look, with a caped dress by Emilia Wickstead. A matching headpiece, nude heels, and a Gabriella Hearst bag finished off the look.

Unlike in prior years, Harry and Meghan didn't participate in the procession, instead going directly to their seats—as did Prince William and Kate Middleton. Only Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall took part.

This service is the last public event scheduled for Harry and Meghan's short trip to the UK. The Duke is thought to have arrived before the Duchess, attending an ecotourism summit in Scotland on February 26, then a recording session with Jon Bon Jovi at Abbey Road Studios two days later. Meghan first appeared alongside him at the Endeavour Fund Awards, marking their first joint engagement after announcing their intention to step back as senior royals.

Since then, the Duke and Duchess went to the Mountbatten Music Festival on Saturday, and joined the Queen for for church services in Windsor—an easy commute from their home base at Windsor's Frogmore Cottage. "It was a really sweet gesture that the Queen asked them to church," a source told People. "It’s telling in the sense that these two are still her family. And as a family, they all love each other."
