Meghan Markle’s Birthday Tribute to Prince Harry Included a New Photo of Baby Archie

On Sunday, Prince Harry turned 35. And, as so many spouses do, the Duchess of Sussex posted a nostalgic tribute to him on Instagram.

It featured nine photographs, all from different stages of Prince Harry’s life—from a babe in Diana’s arms, to a tween alongside Prince William, to his wedding day with Meghan Markle. “Your service to the causes you care so deeply for inspires me every day. You are the best husband and most amazing dad to our son. We love you,” the Duchess wrote on Instagram. “Happiest birthday!” For the last picture, she chose something particularly significant: a never-before-seen photograph from their son’s christening at Windsor Castle.

In it, Meghan Markle sits on a sofa, baby Archie Mountbatten Windsor in her arms. He’s wrapped in the Honiton Christening gown, a handmade replica of the original garment worn by royal children since the days of Queen Victoria. Prince Harry crouches in front of him, smiling and reaching out to his son. The black and white portrait was taken by photographer Chris Allerton.

It’s the latest glimpse the public has gotten of Archie since the release of his other christening portraits back in July. Although we need not wait for long: the little royal will accompany his parents on a royal tour of southern Africa, meaning there will be plenty adorable photo ops in the near future.

And what can we expect? Sources have told outlets like People Archie is “a happy baby” who is “really adorable.” Plus, he may have inherited his father’s signature trait: red hair.

Since the Sussex’s tour will begin, according to a statement, “in just a few weeks,” it seems we will know more sooner rather than later.
